Bambu Lab Integration: Supported and Recommended Hardware

The SimplyPrint Bambu Lab integration allows you to connect your Bambu Lab printers to our platform using an external device. This guide covers the supported and recommended hardware options for running the SimplyPrint Bambu Lab Client.

Recommended Hardware Options

To ensure stable and reliable performance, we recommend using one of the following devices:

Raspberry Pi (Recommended)

Models supported: Raspberry Pi 3B, 3B+, 4B, 5

Minimum RAM: 2GB (recommended)

Setup: The SimplyPrint Bambu Lab Client can be installed on a Raspberry Pi running Raspberry Pi OS.

Advantages

• Runs 24/7 with minimal power consumption
• Small and reliable
• No interruptions due to OS updates (compared to Windows/macOS)

Linux Computer (Highly Recommended)

OS Compatibility: Ubuntu, Debian, and most modern Linux distributions

Minimum RAM: 2GB

Advantages

• Stable and lightweight
• Works well with server environments

Mac Computer

OS Compatibility: macOS Ventura (13) and newer

Minimum RAM: 4GB

Considerations

• macOS updates may interfere with stability
• Less suitable for running 24/7

Windows Computer

OS Compatibility: Windows 10, 11 (64-bit only)

Minimum RAM: 4GB

Considerations

• Windows updates can occasionally cause unexpected reboots, which may disrupt the connection between printer and SimplyPrint. This will not disrupt prints though.
• Webcams can sometimes be more challenging to run compared to other platforms, especially in LAN-mode.
• Many users successfully run the SimplyPrint Bambu Lab Client on Windows without issues, but among those who experience problems, Windows is the most common OS involved.

Network Requirements

LAN-mode printers: same Network: If your printers run in LAN-mode, the device running the SimplyPrint Bambu Lab Client must be connected to the same network as your Bambu Lab printers.

Stable Connection: A stable Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection is required for optimal performance.

Impact of Poor Connection: A poor internet connection may slow down performance, causing delays when sending files to the printer or streaming the webcam. For best results, ensure a strong and stable connection.
